South Park: The Stick of Truth was a surprise hit when it came out, and when they announced a sequel to the game, fans rejoiced. The first game was surprisingly deep and loaded with rich RPG content, from it’s fun battle system, complete with spells and super attacks. You were give the option of a few classes, and from there, your character’s skills and attacks were set by that choice. Fans of the South Park universe were also overjoyed to be transported to the fictional city, because pretty much everything was there. The game also featured side quests, collectibles, and the ability to fart on pretty much everything.
The sequel, which is trading in swords and magic for superheroes, was announced and from there fans were counting down the days until December 6th, it’s slated release date. Unfortunately, we will have to wait until sometime in 2017 for the game to come out. Ubisoft, who also did the first game, announced earlier that they would be delaying the game until early 2017 to work on improving the current product. They feel that given the anticipation from fans and their desire to have a great product, they want to delay the release to make sure it’s up to snuff.
The new game, as stated previously, will be a superhero driven adventure, and the boys will be up to their old tricks, which means more vulgar and fun times are looming on the horizon. For those of you not familiar with the show, the two factions appear to be Cartman as The Coon (his raccoon themed hero) vs Mysterion (who is actually Kenny) In an early trailer, it’s clear that the scope of the game will be the same (or at least similar to) as Marvel’s Civil War. Cartman’s big plan? To mimic every aspect of the billion dollar MCU, so he can profit.
For those of you aren’t fans of South Park, a lot of it might be lost on you. The “lore” aside, the game promises to bring loads of new content, and what appears to be about 5 or so types of superheroes to play as, which means tons of replayability should exist. In fact, the pre-order bonus for the game is a free digital copy of The Stick of Truth.
So fear not, fellow fans. The game will be released in early 2017, meaning you’ll be able to dedicate time to it after the glut of games are released for the holiday season of 2016. So get your silent protagonists ready, because the Fractured but Whole will be here soon.
