All week we gave you all the info that came out of E3 press conferences, without giving an opinion. Now that E3 is over with, it’s time for the winners and losers of the week.
My first winner is Sony. They kicked off their press conference with a brand new God of War, and bearded Kratos. From there each game just seemed to equal this announcement, or be greater. Rebooted Crash Bandicoot games, Hideo Kojima’s brand new game Death Stranding, which is a PS4 exclusive, Detroit, and their very own virtual reality system. We’ll have to see how the games actually do, but I am very excited for the future of Sony and PS4.
EA gets the second winner spot for me. I am a HUGE sports gamer, so obviously my favorite thing to come out of this conference was the announcement of EA challenges, live events, and EA Major events. I’m very excited to test my skill level against players from all over the world in a variety of games. Next, I absolutely loved “EA Originals” (Which you can read more on from The Mike by clicking the link). Being able to play indie games with the backing of EA will be amazing for small developers.
The Star Wars: Battlefront series is the first loser for me. I am absolutely disappointed that this is going to turn into a series that you’ll see a new game every other year. They couldn’t have just taken the time to build up the one game that they have, and adjust it as needed, you’ll be buying another $60 game with a $40 season pass, that may or MAY NOT have a single player campaign mode, they are being specifically guarded about that point.
The Ubisoft press conference as a whole takes the next spot. I’ve always been a fan of Aisha Tyler with her work on Archer or recently on Criminal Minds, but she tries too hard to be the nerd queen of video games, and it comes off as awkward. Add on a degree of forced swearing, and it just go worse. The only exception to this press conference, that I’m VERY excited for is South Park: Fractured but Whole, a new superhero game based on the characters of South Park.
It looks like it’s going to be another exciting year for video games, and I can not wait till I’m able to play all these games. Hopefully Wampaslayer will be able to have a presence at E3 next year and I can play these games at the convention!
