After much speculation, the role of ‘Han Solo’ has been officially confirmed for Chris Lord and Phil Miller’s young ‘Han Solo’ film. Alden Ehrenreich will fill the iconic smuggler’s role, and the 26-year-old actor couldn’t be more excited. “I auditioned for about six months,” Ehrenreich revealed on stage. “The coolest part of the audition process was I went on the [Millennium] Falcon.”, the actor told the audience during a surprise appearance at The Star Wars Celebration in London.
The movie, which will begin filming in the UK in 2017, will cover Han Solo’s life before the events of ‘A New Hope’ This will likely mean we will see the beginning of the ultimate sci-fi bromance of Chewie and Han. Audiences may remember Elden from his role in the Coen Brothers’ film ‘Hail Ceasar’.
Ehrenreich must have something special within him, because he was originally discovered by none other than Steven Spielberg at the age of 14. He has also worked with Francis Ford Coppola, playing the role of Bennie in the film Tetro. Ehrenreich has also worked with legendary director Woody Allen, starring alongside Cate Blanchett in 2013’s Jasmine.
